Beginning the Journey
Introduction
For those who are unfamiliar with The Tarot and modern day Tarot readings that use this profound oracle, we will go over the meanings of the major influences in a psychic reading using my deck of choice, The Cosmic Tarot. There are many Tarot decks. The symbology that leads to the deep profound truth and meaning that comes out of the reading, is always embedded in the deck we use. All Tarot decks employ the same symbology with the only difference being the artists interpretation, or the artistic renderings they present.
The most important cards in any Tarot deck are referred to as the Major Arcana. These are the first 22 cards and have the most powerful meaning in terms of their influence, coloring the entire psychic reading as an overview. Even one of these cards showing up in any reading represents a powerful force in the person’s life. If two or more show up it is an indication that major events are about to occur. This is one of the benefits of getting a psychic Tarot reading. In this way we can become aware of events that are about to occur as to whether they will be challenging or beneficial and can help us navigate our way accordingly. Joy and sorrow, conflict and success are all human conditions and it is true that we cannot control every element or aspect of our life. But the benefit of a Tarot reading with a gifted Tarot reader will help any individual in identifying what they are about to encounter and at least have the foreknowledge of what to expect.
The Major Arcana is comprised of 21 cards plus one card that is numbered zero. That card is The Fool. The Major Arcana represents a journey that The Fool is taking through the various aspects and elements of life. The illustrations are rich in symbolic and mythological figures, natural phenomena, and objects of nature. The Wheel of Fortune, The Hierophant or The Star for example, are extremely significant as to what they depict and can indicate powerful forces at work if they emerge as part of a psychic Tarot reading.
Many psychics, including myself, feel that the Major Arcana is in all probability linked with the mystical wisdom of the Greek god, Hermes, and identified with the Egyptian god Thoth, the originator of writing itself and the supposed author of many writings on man’s relationship to the world of spirit through the kabbalah, alchemy, magic and astrology. The Tarot’s concentration on symbols can be regarded as a kind of private language for metaphysical and arcane concepts too subtle and elusive for words. It may be helpful to think of The Tarot, as representing the spokes of a huge wheel, upon which each of us travel during our life on earth, experiencing material and spiritual ups and downs. In a psychic reading the deep symbology of the cards will trigger the meaning of what qualities and events they represent, illuminating the life of a man or woman as their joys and sorrows, hopes and fears come to light. Each Major Arcana represents a distinct principle, law, power or element of nature. These are drawn from the deep subconscious awareness of symbols and images common to all men and women, from what has been referred to as the collective unconscious. They appear in our personal dreams, in the work of the poet, in the elevated inspiration of imagination, in the work of artists, and in the vision of saints, prophets, sages and enlightened masters of antiquity, who indeed showed us that experiencing life in imagery and pictures is the universal heritage and language of humanity.
I, as a psychic reader and expert in The Tarot, see clients in person in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Ventura County, CA. and on Zoom or over the phone throughout the U.S.A. and the world. I have had the honor to interpret these symbols and combinations in multiple ways over many years to help individuals find their way and embrace their good fortune, or find ways to steer around approaching conflicts.
It is not my intention to expound on, or explain the entire Tarot. There are many works available today that accomplish this. It is my desire to give you a short glimpse into what you can expect when you see any of these Major Arcana cards come up in your psychic Tarot reading, especially if you’re reading with me. Let us begin…
Note: All cards have 2 meanings or expressions, and just as in life, there are positives and negatives.
The Fool (card 0)
The Fool, in a Tarot reading, represents an opportunity to begin a new direction in your life. It represents enthusiasm, joy and adventure, and is a powerful sign that you are now able to set forth with high expectations. The Fool is your invitation to relax, play, and have fun. Treat life like one big experiment and feel yourself in the flow of whatever comes your way. This card asks you to embrace your beautiful, carefree spirit, allowing yourself to connect to the energy that surrounds you and flows through you. The card inspires you to open up new areas in your life. With that comes a mixture of anticipation, wonder, awe, and curiosity. The change this card can bring will usually be a welcome one. You can also see it as a call to the risk-taking part of your own character. The Fool also represents being foolish. In any adventure, no matter how optimistic we are, we can take wrong turns, make wrong choices, and end up at a destination that was not of our original choosing. The Fool represents both of these energies. The cards appearing in the reading surrounding The Fool will give us a greater idea of which energy is present at the moment. The Fool represents the beginning of the journey through The Tarot, and in the world, represents the beginning of any new journey or enterprise.
The Magician (card I)
When The Magician is present in a Tarot reading, we can expect our creative talents are about to come forth to manifest the direction and the elements that aid our journey. The Magician is pure creativity, strength of will, and the ability to create the elements of life that are necessary for us to reach any goal. Coming after the new beginnings and inexperience found in The Fool, The Magician draws out his wand and starts to craft his destiny. The Magician is all about internal and external manifestation and is an incredibly favorable card. This card is about recognizing our potential and harnessing it to take action in our lives. After setting a clear intention or a goal, the next thing we must do is act. Also, because in our modern day culture magicians are thought to be sleight-of-hand artists or charlatans, take note that The Magician can also indicate insincerity in one or more people in a person’s life. Knowing this, especially when it comes to partnerships and close relationships, can be extremely valuable. The Magician represents pure creativity, and is found in the psychic readings of many actors, artists, and entrepreneurs who have found the ability to take their work to the next level.
The High Priestess (card II)
The High Priestess follows The Fool and Magician major arcana cards and encourages you to trust in your intuition, higher power and be more aware of your subconscious mind. The High Priestess in a reading represents the mysterious and the hidden influences at work in your life. It is of special value to those who have a natural ability to tune into intuition and the mystical elements of life. It often arises in the readings of those individuals who have psychic abilities themselves. This card being picked means you must trust your instincts and move on the path you think is best for you, without taking into consideration what others might say. Look for your aims and dreams and all the symbols and signs that the Universe is sending you. Your intuition is your greatest asset in these times. Allow the connection between spirit, body and mind to flourish and allow whatever feelings come up to play out without interference. This card showing up in a man’s reading can represent the illusion of the perfect woman. In a woman’s reading, it may indicate that she can find her own intuitive gifts within herself, utilizing them to her benefit. The Priestess represents all things psychic, and the ability to perceive the unknown intuitive forces that are beyond words, and bring into the material world these impressions as reality.

The Empress (card III)
When you sit with a psychic and realize that The Empress has made its way into your reading, whether you are a man or woman, it represents a powerful omen of material wealth, marriage, fertility for would be parents, and for people in the creative arts. It can also indicate an over bearing desire for material wealth at any cost. The Empress showing up in a reading represents either the ability to achieve, or the desire for, material luxury. It is a strong indicator that the possibility of material advantages are coming into life. The Empress is the archetype of all things feminine and in a tarot reading represents the dual polarity of human interaction as well the sexual and sensual drive. The Empress, regardless of being male or female, brings out our most passionate desires that are so frequently associated with the term ‘earthy.’ The person represented by this card can be loving, nurturing and caring, may have material abundance or is appreciative of beautiful, comforting things. Sometimes, the Empress can point to love and work coming together, either with a work partner or perhaps a new business venture. The Empress can be a woman of extraordinarily good taste, and when she is present in a tarot reading it reminds us to make every experience a softer, more pleasurable one, celebrate beauty and invoke every single one of our senses.
The Emperor (card IV)
The Emperor is the archetype of full masculine energy and expresses itself as, or represents ‘The King or Leader’ and all things regarding the achievement of well laid plans and strategies. It bestows the ideals of leadership, authority and the results that come from action. It’s a good sign of success and can also signify that you have the ability to lead others, and can head up a project, captain your team to a victory, or produce something of lasting value. The Emperor is that dedicated drive for conquest and the will to win. The Emperor is also shear ambition and the ability to see the issue through whatever it may be and often at whatever the cost. If there is the desire to accomplish a major goal, then The Emperor is a wonderful omen in a psychic Tarot reading of achieving success. This card can indicate the integration and advancement of well thought out goals, usually of the more tried and true methods. The Emperor, on a mundane level, can indicate the arrival of a highly magnetic and charismatic individual into one’s life. In competition or when rivals clash however, The Emperor can express the darker side, and we can see the warlike and conflicting argumentative nature of this card. As in any reading, this is determined by the other cards in the spread.
The Hierophant (card V)
It is with The Hierophant that we leave the purely personal energies and step out into the world at large. This card represents the traditional and orthodox teaching considered suitable to disseminate to the masses. This is the ruling power of external religion and, in the business sector, high corporate influence. Whereas The Priestess taught in secret, and only to true initiates, this card represents the teachings that go out to the world at large. The Hierophant is the keeper of traditions and rules. He is all about stability and principles and can often represent stubborn or even oppressive energies. He can also be a teacher and mentor. That is why he is often represented with two young followers listening to him speak. The Hierophant can indicate mastery and that you are moving towards the next level of expertise in your field or that you are perceived as a leader. The teachings, or philosophies or socio-religious ways of life that are shown by this card can represent either the desire for social approval, and the need to stay the course in what society determines our role to be, or to strike out on our own. This can be the card of the inventor and the religious leader or reformer, and conversely, the dogmatic cult leader. In a different social mode, it can represent completely leaving behind orthodoxy in every way, and go the way of the hippie or the bohemian.

The Lovers (card VI)
The Lovers, in a psychic Tarot reading represent the pure bond of true love. Yes, the Lovers card is all about relationships, but it’s also about so much more than that, because this card represents our choices. Who are we right now in this very moment, and what do we believe in? Personal connections are far more satisfying when there is a deep level of trust, respect and the understanding that comes from being able to be totally honest, open and unafraid to be vulnerable. This is how we achieve true intimacy! Often as a psychic, I am asked will I ever find my soulmate? The Lovers, emerging in a reading represents the answer to that question as a profound yes. It represents true love in every element, and every aspect that can be imagined. It is the bonding force that has kept humanity growing ever larger, and is the basis for which the family endures to this day. In many ways, without the element of The Lovers, life can seem boring and barren. If the rest of the cards show conflict, then this card may indicate too many choices, temptations, and attractions in which the struggle between sacred commitment and desire for adventure at all costs devolves into quarrels, infidelity and dangers of broken relationships. This subject remains to this day the number one all-encompassing question.
The Chariot (card VII)
We must bear in mind at all times that each card symbolizes its own element of life. This is the human journey that we all, in one way or another, encounter. The Chariot is a card that represents one of the greatest human desires of all. This is the ambition and impetus to triumph in life, to achieve success, and to control the forces of nature, such as ill health and monetary difficulties or enemies, including one’s own lower passions. This is the card of those who achieve greatness. It indicates winning the race. One of the many qualities of this card is the mental and physical powers that lead to fulfillment, and is an omen that we will win, and great success will be ours. A Tarot reading can show us, depending on what cards are associated with The Chariot, great success or wild ambition that totally and completely runs away with us to our ruin. The Chariot has reached the end of the race and has won convincingly. . But this is not the end. It is only one of the ‘races’ we will experience and our prize is always a new beginning. In this card, we see that The Fool, who began this journey as number 0, encountered obstacles and identity affirming experiences and has reached his first level of triumphs. He is now ready to learn the further lessons as demonstrated in the next seven cards.
